Round 3 v West Coast Eagles

Round 3 v West Coast Eagles

Live scenes at the Ned Merrett-Murray household when I found out I could be one of the 1200 lucky Lions members to attend the Gabba this weekend

While it may be a small crowd, those who are lucky enough to be at the Gabba this weekend will be bloody loud and make it a hostile environment for our fellow Queensland club – the West Coast Eagles – this weekend.

The Lions are back on the winner’s list and the fans are back at the Gabba.

Nature is healing.

betting on the $2 Lion
Brisbane Lions to beat the line (-2.5) @ $2

For those of you playing at home, the title of this weekly preview is called “Betting on the Lion” it’s a pun if you’re yet to catch on.

This weekend Neds – proud sponsor of the mighty Brisbane Lions – is offering $2 lines.

The line has been set -2.5 in favour of the Lions and I’m more than confident our boys will smash it.

You may recall that when the last time we played this mob was way back in Round 1 of 2019 when our boys smashed the Eagles by 44 points; with Lachie Neale gaining 29 disposals in his debut for the club and Cam McCarthy booting four goals.

This was the night the mighty Brisbane Lions (proudly sponsored by Neds) made a statement to the world that the boys were indeed, back in town.

History shall repeat itself this Saturday night.

The $2 line is money for jam.

Lachie Neale before him
 Lachie Neale 30+ Disposals @ $2.50

2020 Brownlow medalist Lachie Neale was instrumental in our win over his old club last weekend with 29 disposals.

As mentioned earlier, he also gained the same amount of disposals – 29 when we last met the Eagles at the Gabba.

I believe he’ll get just one more touch of the Sherrin and backing him in for 30+ disposals.

The Eagles will talk up a big game but he’ll easy shake-off Jack Redden’s tag and find himself with another case of leather poisoning this Saturday night.

Charlie Cameron doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Charlie Cameron 4+ Goals @ $3

Come Saturday night, the West Coast Eagles boys are going to feel the same way about listening to Baby Shark that Charlie Cameron’s old Adelaide teammates feel about hearing the Richmond theme song.

He was back to his best last Saturday in our hard-fought 12 point win over Freo kicking four goals and his efforts in the second quarter required the local fire brigade to be called into the Gabba as Charlie Cameron was on fire!

With the return of the Lions army to the Gabba, there’s no doubt in my mind that Charlie Cameron is going to put on a show.

Expect the little things that make him the star that he is – the little contests, the spoils, tackles and just the energy as he kicks another bag of goals.

The motorcycle celebration and the playing of Baby Shark after every goal just adds that icing on the cake.

When Charlie’s up and about, the Lions are up and about and those 2000 lucky people at the Gabba are in for an absolute treat.
