best bet
Gosford: Race 3 (1:20pm)
No. 2 Camerlengo

Camerlengo left himself too much work on debut but will enjoy good improvement for the experience and looks the one to beat in Race 3 at Gosford today.

The Waterhouse & Bott-trained colt stamped himself as one to watch prior to making his debut and by all accounts, is a star on the rise.

We’re getting around even money for him at publish but I can’t imagine that will last.

Gosford: Race 6 (3:10pm)
No. 1 Crown Affair

Crown Affair will take winning form into the sixth at Gosford this afternoon and looks up to making it two in a row.

The Snitzel gelding has been up and racing for a while, but has continued to produce high quality performances, including his eye-catching run in a Wednesday race at Warwick Farm last time out.

He’s been charged with carrying topweight, but has a class edge over the lion’s share of these rivals.

each way
Ballarat: Race 7 (3:30pm)
No. 11 Hot In Paris

Hot In Paris failed to fire at Mornington last time out, but she is a quality filly and can bounce back at Ballarat this afternoon, at a nice price ($7.50 at publish).

The Sizzling filly was an impressive winner at Bendigo when first-up from a spell and was a model of consistency last time in.

Fitter third-up this afternoon, she can slot in somewhere behind the early pace and finish over the top of her rivals.

Ballarat: Race 9 (4:30pm)
No. 1 Smokin' Romans

Smokin’ Romans has made just the one appearance at the races so far, but is clearly a horse of ability and can continue his rise through the grades at Ballarat this afternoon.

The three-year-old son of Ghibellines could hardly have been more impressive on debut here at Ballarat and mustered an impressive turn of foot to beat his rivals by close to four lengths.

This is harder, but any improvement on that effort would just see him winning again.
