Wangaratta: Race 3 (1:30pm)
No. 8 Strobe Light

Strobe Light has improved for two career starts so far and is ready to break her maiden at Wangaratta this afternoon.

The Puissance De Lune filly certainly wasn’t disgraced when she boxed on to finish fifth at Cranbourne when resuming, only two lengths from the winner, and there was a lot to like about the way she hit the line to fill the minors over a mile last time out.

Fitter third-up and from the good draw, I think she’ll take beating.

Wangaratta: Race 6 (3pm)
No. 7 Beauty Betty

Beauty Betty has enjoyed an exciting start to her racing career, and she can continue her rise through the grades at Wangaratta this afternoon.

The Team Corstens-trained filly immediately stamped herself as one to watch when she won at Scone on debut, and she was returned to the paddock after finishing third behind Mo’s Crown at Gosford.

She ran into trouble early when resuming at Ballarat but showed plenty of fight and ultimately won the race.

She’ll only improve for that effort and is primed to win again.

best bet
Wangaratta: Race 8 (4pm)
No. 2 Heyington Station

This is a decent drop in class for Heyington Station and he won’t be offered a better opportunity to return to winning form.

The Star Witness gelding has been a consistent performer this time in, finishing fourth at each of his first three starts, all in Saturday metro company, and he was last seen filling the minors over a mile behind Oasis Girl at Caulfield.

He’s rock-hard fit, drawn to effect and is my best bet on the program.

each way
Wyong: Race 6 (4:20pm)
No. 5 Mo The Great

Mo The Great flew home to fill the minors here at Wyong when resuming and will only be better for the run.

The Uncle Mo gelding has been a great horse for the Kim Waugh stable throughout his career and record some lovely results in good races last time in.

He’ll need some luck from barrier 10, but he is as tough as they come, and I think that he is over the odds at around the $15 mark.
