Seymour: Race 4 (2:30pm)
No. 12 Tovolo Gap

Tovolo Gap returned a lovely effort to finish second when resuming and can go one better in the fourth at Seymour this afternoon.

The Savabeel filly finished midfield on debut at Pakenham for David Brideoake and was transferred to the care of Peter Moody prior to her current preparation – a move that has evidently switched her on.

There doesn’t look to be any real stars in this field and with appropriate luck, I think that Tovolo Gap will take beating.

best bet
Wyong: Race 4 (2:35pm)
No. 4 Alakahan

Alakahan has improved for two starts this time and is ready to win at Wyong this afternoon.

The Richard & Michael Freedman-trained gelding has made only four appearances at the races so far but has quickly adapted to life in Australia (having debuted in Ireland) and finished second over 1850m at Newcastle last time out.

I think that fitter third-up and further out in trip, he won’t be offered a better opportunity to win.

each way
Seymour: Race 6 (3:30pm)
No. 9 Gregorian Chant

Gregorian Chant has stripped fitter for a couple of competitive efforts this time and looms as a winning chance at Seymour today, at a nice price ($7 at publish).

The Echoes Of Heaven mare doesn’t win out of turn, but she always returns a tough effort and has filled the minors of races at Ballarat and The ‘Bool since resuming this time.

The small rise in trip looks ideal and I am happy to have something on each-way.

Wyong: Race 7 (4:25pm)
No. 5 Mantelli

Mantelli will take good improvement into what is a drop in class for him at Wyong this afternoon.

The three-year-old son of Per Incanto was a strong and consistent performer for Chris Waller last time in and raced well, but clearly needed the run when fourth at Randwick-Kensington first-up.

He broke his maiden at this point of his preparation last time in and the $4.80 we’re getting for him at publish looks over the odds.
