Old Head will take winning form into the fifth at Ballarat this afternoon and looks up to making it two in a row.
The four-year-old son of Pins has only made four appearances at the races so far, but finished second at each of his first three before breaking his maiden in dominant fashion at Bendigo last time out.
This is harder, but he can continue his rise through the grades.
Clevanicc will take good improvement from a fair first-up effort in town and this looks a lovely race for him.
The Nicconi gelding has been a good horse for Kris Lees throughout his career and returned some pleasing efforts last time campaign, highlighted by a lovely win in BM80 company on the Gold Coast.
He has a good second-up record and a class edge over most of these rivals.
Zizzis hasn’t been seen at the races since February, but she has a good fresh record and a class edge over these rivals.
The Sizzling mare has been an excellent performer for Patrick Payne throughout her career and returned some good efforts in harder races than this one, last time in.
Payne’s stable is flying and Zizzis can return the team another winner. She looks a touch of overs at around the $4 mark.
Mystery Shot will also resume from a spell at Ballarat this afternoon and has had only the one career start, but he couldn’t have been more impressive on debut and can make a winning return in the last at Ballarat today.
The Shooting To Win gelding was sent off an odds-on favourite at The ‘Bool in late December and franked the quote with a dominant three-length win.
He’s sure to have taken plenty of improvement for that experience and clearly goes well fresh.
