2020 Winter Cup Day Tips & Preview

The Listed Winter Cup over the 2400m is the feature race on the card at Rosehill this Saturday but there is eight other quality races as well.

We’re confident that we have found the winner in every single race below.

Gamble responsibly.

Race 1: Darley 2YO Handicap (1100m) 11:25pm
No. 1 Lady Banff

The beautiful grey filly Lady Banff looks well placed in the opening race of the day after two very nice trials leading into this first-up assignment.

She has two wins and a second from four career starts with her only unplaced run coming in the Magic Millions Classic on the Gold Coast.

Race 2: Highway Plate (1500m) 12:00pm
No. 5 Ready To Humble

Ready To Humble did all the work in front well he was run down late by Leg Work in the Highway Handicap two weeks ago.

He meets that horse much better at the weights for this contest and he has drawn to get the gun run in transit from barrier three.

He looks the winner to me and is one of the better betting plays for the day.

Race 3: Yes Yes Yes New To Coolmore Handicap (1500m) 12:35pm
No. 6 Miss Einstein

I have a lot of time for the lightly raced four year old mare Miss Einstein who has been racing very consistently so far this prep without winning.

She was cramped for room at a vital stage last time out on the heavy track when running fifth but she is not far away from a win and she looks well suited her from barrier three.

Race 4: Listed Winter Cup (2400m) 1:10pm
No. 4 The Lord Mayor

The Lord Mayor has been ticking away nicely so far this prep and he should be ready to peak at this stage of his preparation.

He was doing his best work late when well beaten by Wu Gok last time out but he meets that horse better at the weights and this is a more suitable distance.

Race 5: Rosehill Bowling Club Handicap (1200m) 1:50pm
No. 2 Rari

Rari has just the one win to his name from 10 career race starts but he has been runner up on five occasions.

The Sizzling gelding finished second to Subpoenaed and Rubisaki at his last two runs last prep, both of whom have gone on to much better grade.

Race 6: De Bortoli Wines Handicap (1800m) 2:30pm
No. 4 Matowi

Matowi is a fairly consistent horse who has been racing well in this grade for some time now.

He returned from a spell with a nice fifth behind Man Of Peace beaten 2.3 lengths at Randwick and he will only improve off that effort.

Race 7: Catanachs Sprint (1100m) 3:10pm
No. 7 Adelong

Adelong had to dig deep when winning on the heavy track last time out at Rosehill.

She responded really well when Hugh Bowman asked her too and she showed she is a pretty exciting prospect late in the race.

James McDonald jumps back on top from barrier five and she does look tough to beat again.

Race 8: Iron Jack Handicap (1300m) 3:50pm
No. 8 Trumbull

Many of the horses in this race have very similar form lines but it doesn’t really help when picking one out!

It is a very open betting race but I have landed on the smart Trumbull from the Kim Waugh stable who has been racing well without winning of late.

He has been very consistent over his career having missed the placings just four times in his 16 race careers and he will again be in the mix.

Race 9: Sky Racing Active Handicap (1300m) 4:25pm
No. 7 Handspun

Handspun can finish our day on a winning note int he last race of the day at Rosehill!

His first up run behind Adelong was excellent and with a bit of luck from the wide barrier, he will be storming over the top to record his fifth win from 16 starts.
