Daily Racing Tips – Sunday, May 3

Sapphire Coast: Race 4 (2:29pm)
No. 6 Rubaiya

Rubaiya has returned two competitive efforts back from a spell and is ready to win third-up at the Sapphire Coast today. The Rubick filly ran second here at the Sapphire Coast when resuming and tracked home well to fill the minors at Moruya last time out. She’s drawn and weighted well today and probably won’t be offered a better opportunity to record an elusive win.

Bendigo: Race 8 (4:50pm)
No. 1 Villa Sarchi

Villa Sarchi has been charged with carrying topweight, but he’s just the best horse in this race for mine and is offered a great opportunity to return to winning form. The Written Tycoon gelding doesn’t win out of turn and he didn’t fire last time out, but he’s been extremely competitive in far better races than this, including a second placing behind Buffalo River at Caulfield two back. That would be good enough to win this with relative ease.

Alice Springs: Race 8 (5:07pm)
No. 2 Eastwood

Eastwood has been flying this time in and he is primed to win the featured sprint at Alice Springs this afternoon. The Bel Esprit gelding ran second at each of his first two starts back from a break on the dirt at Darwin and has won his four subsequent starts, including two over 1100m here most recently. He’s rock-hard fit and needs only even luck to be in the finish again.

Alice Springs: Race 9 (5:40pm)
No. 7 Final Hearing

Final Hearing has returned to the races in excellent form this time and the Alice Springs Cup looks a terrific feature race for him. The Reset gelding has hit the ground running since arriving at Gary Clarke’s stables this prep, winning easily here first-up before filling the minors behind Java in the Chief Minister’s Cup last time out. He takes 2.5kgs from Java in this race and boasts more upside.
