Daily Racing Tips – Sunday, May 17

Parkes: Race 6 (3:10pm)
No. 2 Gold Touch

Gold Touch hasn’t been seen at the races since February, but she was a strong and consistent performer last time in and can make a winning return in the featured sprint at Parkes this afternoon.

The Luke Pepper-trained mare was set for several races similar to this one over summer, winning the Summer Sprint at Wagga and the National Sprint Preview at Canberra most notably.

Her first-up record is good, and she’ll get a relief in the weights with a claiming apprentice aboard.

Bendigo: Race 6 (3:15pm)
No. 11 Need New Friends

Need New Friends is another horse that is first-up this afternoon, but she is yet to taste anything but success at this point of her prep and can make a winning return at Bendigo.

The Shamus Award filly immediately stamped herself as a filly to follow when comfortably winning on debut at Kyneton, and she continued to perform well as the bar was raised throughout her preparation which included a close-up second over 1200m at The Valley, most notably.

Danny O’Brien’s horses are flying and Need New Friends can return the stable another winner.

Parkes: Race 7 (3:50pm)
No. 2 Assault'n'Bathory

Assault’n’Bathory returned to winning form with an utterly dominant performance at Canberra last time out and the Parkes Cup looks a lovely feature race for him.

The Murtajill gelding has been the stable star for Daniella Seib for several seasons now and while it did take him a few to get going this time, his last-start effort suggested that he has found peak condition.

He’ll need luck from out wide but has a class edge over the majority of these rivals.

Bendigo: Race 8 (4:15pm)
No. 4 Lake's Folly

Lake’s Folly will take winning form into the last race at Bendigo today and can make it two in a row.

The three-year-old son of Pierro found form around some good horses during a brief spring preparation, but his first-up effort this time suggested that he has returned to the track a far better horse this time in.

He harbours plenty of upside and will take beating in something of this quality.
