Rosehill: Race 2 (12:05pm)
No. 2 Ready To Humble

Ready To Humble has been excellent back from a spell and today’s Highway race looks a lovely target for him.

The Rubick gelding gave his rivals windburn when resuming at Grafton and franked that performance with another dominant display at Port Macquarie.

He then stepped out in a 1200m Highway race at Randwick three weeks ago and was beaten only by the talented Tejori, beating home a stack of other classy horses including Hellenism.

Fitter fourth-up and getting out in trip, he’s primed to win again.

Doomben: Race 7 (2:55pm)
No. 3 Brimham Rocks

Brimham Rocks is yet to show his best in two starts back from a spell, but fitter third-up and under the conditions of this race, he looks over the odds at around the $15 mark.

He’s been an excellent horse for the Waller stable throughout his career and ran well during his spring preparation last year, winning the Naturalism Stakes and finishing second in the Bendigo Cup most notably.

In what is a wide-open race for the stayers, I’m more than happy to have something on each-way.

best bet
Caulfield: Race 7 (3:25pm)
No. 6 Sikorsky

Sikorsky was enormous a fortnight ago and it’s almost impossible to find a reason why he won’t be able to emulate that performance and result in the seventh at Caulfield today.

The Pierro gelding needed the run when sixth over 1300m at Bendigo off a long spell but flew home to finish second behind Jumbo Ozaki two back.

This is a harder race than his impressive win over a mile at Flemington, but he harbours further improvement and for mine, he’s just the best horse in the race.

Belmont: Race 8 (6:15pm)
No. 8 The Velvet King

This is the strongest edition of the Belmont Sprint in recent memory and nearly every standout Perth horse currently going around has been confirmed for a start.

Humidor is an interesting runner on debut for Lindsay Smith, but The Velvet King will take good improvement into his second campaign start and can return to winning form.

The Velvet King was an impressive performer through the Perth Summer Carnival last year and resumed this time for a close-up second behind Vega Magic in the Group 3 Roma Cup.

He harbours good upside and is drawn to receive the run of the race from barrier 5.
