Ruthless Robyn was a back-to-back winner over the course and distance last month but has struggled to draw an inside box in her last two starts. The two-year-old gets her chance here from Box 3 and has the best overall time (15.73 seconds) of any runner in the field. The daughter of Magic Sprite has also won twice at this venue and is a three-time winner over the distance. This certainly isn’t beyond her.
You could make a case for almost three-quarters of the field in this race, so instead of backing one outright, I’ll stick with Leonardo Pearl each way. The three-year-old son of Fabregas has placed in his last three starts and is a six-time winner over this distance with plenty of early speed to match. He overcame the wide draw to run second two starts back at Maitland and can easily go close again.
Happy to take whatever price I can get on Xerri here. The lightly-raced son of Fernando Bale is absolutely flying with four wins from seven starts, and I can easily make a case for him stringing together three in a row tonight from the low draw. His latest start saw him a comfortable 9.2 lengths winner over the course and distance in a time of 29.38. Arctic Kingdom was a winner at this venue three starts back where he overcame the wide draw to storm home late. He backed that up with a repeat performance in his next start and should come close again.
Our Same Race Multi selections are:
No. 3 Xerri (To Win)
No. 7 Arctic Kingdom (Top 3)
Morse was pipped right on the line in his last start over the 400m and I wouldn’t be surprised to see General George do the same. The two-year-old has been thereabouts recently placing in three of his last five starts since winning over the course and distance last month. He likes running on from wideout and should be doing his best work late here again.
