Our favourite and trusty Russian Regional Volleyball Tournament in Ural is back in action today, as it has been pretty much every day while world sport, and society in general, has been in lockdown.
While other sports are gradually making a comeback we’re not going to drop the ball on our Ural Regional Men’s Volleyball tournament tipping anytime soon.
This afternoon’s clash between the Ural Academy and the Ural Air Force in the men’s division is set to be a cracking contest.
Academy has hit a purple patch at the moment winning four out of their past five matches and many in the Ural Volleyball scene are beginning to ask – is 2020 their year?
As for the Ural Air Force, they’ve hit some turbulence of late.
The Air Force boys have lost their past three games including their past two in straight sets with many questioning their ability to last in the never-ending tournament.
The good news for Ural Air Force is that they’ve won three of their past four encounters against Ural Academy
However, when these two sides last met, Academy had an epic 3-2 win.
It’s tough times for the Ural Air Force and they should continue today.
The best they can do is aim to win a set, so I’ll take Academy to win 3-1 at the solid $4.60 price.
The re-opening weekend of the German Bundesliga finishes off tonight with Werder Bremen playing host to Bayer Leverkusen overnight (4:30 am AEST to be exact)
It’s becoming make or break time for the home team Werder Bremen who simply can’t afford to drop games in the League’s restart if they want to avoid the relegation zone.
Their opponents, Bayer Leverkusen are aiming for a top-four finish and will be aiming to keep up the good work before the Bundesliga had a COVID19 enforced spell.
Bayer Leverkusen has lost just one of their past nine matches and have Champions League on their mind if they can keep up the good form.
Currently finding themselves just one place from the bottom, Bremen has managed just four wins from their 24 Bundesliga matches this campaign and it could be a very slow dragged out process to relegation if they don’t get their act together.
Bremen’s defence has come under heavy criticism of late and goes into this game with the unwanted record of having conceded more goals than any other side in their division.
If you’re a Werder Bremen fan you’d hope they’ve been working on it in some capacity during the break.
For what it’s worth, I can’t see much changing from here and expect the visitors to do it easy.
I have them leading at every break at the $2.60 price.
