Biscara will take winning form into the first at Wagga this afternoon and looks well placed to make it two in a row. The Rubick filly returned some nice efforts and results while under the care of Lindsay Park, but the transferral to Matt Dale’s care appears to have made a big difference, as she resumed from a spell for an easy win at Gunnedah in early April. This is harder, but it is the next logical step and she harbours plenty of upside.
Muleta has been a strong and consistent performer since debuting and strikes a very winnable race at the Gold Coast this afternoon. The Fastnet Rock gelding broke his maiden here in style in late March and has since filled the minors over 1800m and run fourth in decent company at Ipswich. He’s rock-hard fit, gets in well at the weights and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.
The early scratching of a couple of key chances including Shooting Love has left Baroda as the horse to beat in race eight at the Gold Coast this afternoon. The Team Edmonds-trained filly simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race, winning three in succession before heading for a spell. There was a lot to like about the way she worked home to fill the minors here when resuming a few weeks ago and she’ll only improve for that effort.
This looked to be Greysful Glamour’s race to lose before she was scratched on Thursday afternoon, and a horse like Savacool is now more than capable of winning the Wagga Cup. Savacool doesn’t win out of turn, but she also rarely runs a bad race and has been competitive in tougher races than this one, this time in. She hit the line with intent to finish third in the Group 3 Easter Cup at Caulfield last time out and she is rock-hard fit for this contest.
