The market is expecting Morse to bounce back from his most recent display at The Gardens where he finished dead last over the same trip. The son of Spring Gun easily deserves a second chance with 29 wins over the distance to his name including three over the last six months alone. Morse also ran this course and distance in 22.52 seconds last August – so anything close to that will be tough to beat.
Storm Bay has finished runner-up in three consecutive starts and should take big improvement away from his run behind Legendary Lass over the same course and distance last week. The son of My Bro Fabio has plenty of early speed to his name and looks a little over the odds with form over the course and distance.
Hello Mavis was narrowly beaten at the line by Princess Zesta in her last start but looks a good chance to bounce resuming over the course and distance. The daughter of Oaks Road owns two wins at The Gardens and has finished runner-up twice this year over the 600m. She has the early gate speed to match the favourite Ned’s Chance and should prove tough to beat.
Our Same Race Selections:
No. 7 Hello Mavis (Win)
No. 4 Midnight Waltz (Top 4)
Guitar Man can really make a race of this in the early goings if he uses his early speed to his advantage. The four-year-old fought on bravely for third in his last start at Gosford and has some form around the course and distance. It will take something special to beat home Lanzoni, Lulu Forty and even Swift O’Shea, but there’s plenty suggesting Guitar Man is worth an each-way shout.
