UFC’s Sorest Losers

UFC’s Sorest Losers

The Main Event at UFC 248 between Middleweight champ Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero was a lackluster affair, with a total of 88 strikes for the entire fight.

Yoel Romero stood in the middle of the Octagon covering up for the first two minutes of the fight to a chorus of boo’s from the crowd in Las Vegas.

The judge’s really had no choice but to award the fight to the champion and Dana White echoed MMA Twitter when he declared that the onus is on the challenger to take the belt off the champion by being active.

Yoel Romero was full of excuses after the fight, stating that it was Adesanya that was the one to blame for the inactivity in a very out of character performance, inside and outside the Octagon.

He is not the first, and he won’t be the last, to take a loss poorly.

We’ve run through the times in which a UFC fighter has chucked a tantrum after losing in the Octagon.

T.J Dillashaw vs Everyone

It’s hard to pick out just one time that T.J Dillashaw chucked the toys out of the cot after a fight.

His loss to Henry Cejudo springs to mind after he believed the referee stepped in too early.

Here’s a compilation of T.J Dillshaw being a sore loser. And here is a list of the Worst Referee Stoppages in UFC History.

Colby Covington vs Kamaru Usman

Covington was on a seven fight winning streak heading into his title fight with Kamaru Usman and he was not shy in running his mouth leading into the fight.

He lost a very close fight by TKO in the last round and preceded to immediately run out of the arena after the fight. He also blamed the referee for what he thought was an early stoppage.

Nick Diaz vs GSP

Nick Diaz has never taken to losing well. In fact I can’t remember a time either Diaz brother admitted to losing a fight.

Seemingly after every loss Nick has ever had, he immediately retires from the sport.

He crammed about four different excuses into the one interview here when reviewing his fight against Georges St-Pierre.

Paul Daley vs Josh Koscheck

After being out-grappled for three rounds by Josh Koscheck, Paul Daley landed a cheap shot well after the bell had sounded to finish the fight.

It was one of the worst acts we have ever seen in the Octagon and UFC president Dana White banned him from ever competing in the promotion ever again.

Luke Rockhold vs Michael Bisping

Michael Bisping upset Luke Rockhold with a first round KO at UFC 199 to claim the Middleweight title.

Bisping wasn’t the most modest winner you’ve ever seen, but the loss clearly killed Rockhold inside.

Tim Kennedy vs Yoel Romero

This one may be a little harsh as Tim Kennedy had every right to be pissed off at the amount of time Yoel Romero took in between rounds.

It’s not the first time Yoel has tried to get more than the allotted 1 minute that fighters get in between rounds and it pissed Kennedy off as seen in this exchange post fight.

Maycee Barber (and father) vs Roxanne Modafferi

Maycee Barber did her very best impression of modesty after her loss to outsider Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246 earlier this year.

There were many back handed compliments to Roxanne after the win however she all but said she would have won had it not been for her knee injury.

Her father also had some words to say after the fight.
