Round 1 2020 v Hawthorn

Round 1 2020 v Hawthorn

The footy is going ahead and the mighty Brisbane Lions (proudly sponsored by Neds) mean business this year, no matter how it happens.

It’s going to be a shame that the Luke Hodge Cup won’t have the old Fitzroy faithful being able to cheer on the boys this Sunday but the boys all know they’ll be there in spirit

The off-season has been long and the build-up to round 1 has been weird but once the ball bounces on Sunday arvo, it’ll be on like donkey kong.

One positive leading into this game is it’s a much-needed dress rehearsal at the MCG when we get down to the business end of the season, even if it is a ghost town right now.

Should Be Shorter
Brisbane Lions H2H @ $1.75

The mighty Brisbane Lions (proudly sponsored by Neds) go into this match the favourite, with the Hawks not too far behind at $2.05

If I called the shots on the book, I’d be having an early payout or make our boys shorter odds than Winx – and I’d do that every week.

Hence I’m not a bookie for obvious reasons.

Hawthorn has become our junior (well, senior) feeder club in recent years having gained the services of Luke Hodge and now Grant Birchall.

It was also where Fages did his apprenticeship before he took the top job at the Gabba.

Our recent record against the Hawks is excellent having won our past four matches against them and we are long due for a win at the MCG.

There’s a lot of uncertain things in this world, but the Lions opening 2020 with a win is something that is certain.
