Fox Spirit will take winning form into the fourth at Wyong today and looks well placed to make it two in a row. The Cameron Crockett-trained filly has only made two appearances at the races so far but has more than stamped herself as one to follow; hitting the line well to finish second on debut at Dubbo before breaking her maiden to the tune of six lengths at Tamworth last time out. This is harder, but it looks the next logical step for her.
Screenager will take good improvement into her second campaign task at Wyong today and is primed to win. The Godolphin-trained filly was a strong and consistent performer last time in and finished fifth behind the smart Splintex when resuming at Wyong. She’ll improve for that effort and this is clearly an easier race.
This looks like being the most open race on the card at Wyong today and a horse like Opinions looms as a winning chance at a price ($9 at publish). The Paul Perry-trained gelding has been a consistent performer this time in and mustered an eye-catching turn of foot to score in Class 2 company at Newcastle last time out. Robbie Dolan has options from barrier 1 and I’m more than happy to have something on each-way at the price.
Southern Appeal has a class edge over the runners remaining in contention for the last and is ready to win. The Danny Williams-trained gelding ran second over 1200m at Goulburn when fresh and was last seen finishing a few lengths from the winner in a Highway race at Rosehill. This is a big drop in class from that contest.
