best bet
Bendigo: Race 1 (12:15pm AEDT)
No. 2 Grand Promenade

Grand Promenade has found career best form and looks the one to beat again in the first at Bendigo today. The Maher & Eustace-trained gelding has won four races in succession heading into this contest, including a handicap over a mile and a half at Caulfield last time out. This race doesn’t look any harder and with even luck, he can win again. He is my best bet of the day.

Rosehill: Race 2 (1:10pm AEDT)
No. 3 Holyfield

Holyfield failed to fire in in the VRC Sires’ Produce at Flemington last time out, but harbours further improvement and looks over the odds in this race at a double figure quote. The I Am Invincible colt won each of his first two starts and is proven at the NSW way of going, having successfully debuted at Newcastle. He’s drawn ideally and will have the added bonus of in-form hoop Tom Marquand in the saddle. He went up at $17 on Wednesday and even after receiving good interest, represents great value.

Rosehill: Race 5 (3:10pm AEDT)
No. 1 Kementari

There is perhaps no more interesting story than that of the resuming Kementari at Rosehill today, who is first-up from a failed career at stud and is now gelded. His record obviously speaks for itself, but he is a Group 1 winner and multiple black type runner and has performed well fresh previously. James Cummings accepted into the field of last weekend’s Group 1 The Galaxy before scratching, which tends to suggest that the horse is ready to go, and I am happy to be with him in this easier race.

Bendigo: Race 9 (5:25pm AEDT)
No. 12 Big Night Out

This looks a terrific race for Big Night Out. The John Sadler-trained sprinter simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race and finished fourth down the straight at HQ first-up before flying home to finish second in a similar race last time out. He’ll relish getting out to what is probably his pet trip and with even luck, will take a power of beating.
