Great Danger has returned to the track in excellent condition this time and is primed to win the fourth on Muswellbrook Gold Cup Day. The Kris Lees-trained gelding was a consistent performer last time in and resumed this time for a smart win in BM70 company at Newcastle before finishing second to Moana Jewel in the Provincial Championships Qualifier at Hawkesbury last time out. This is a drop in class and he can complete his lead-up to his grand final by winning again.
Vox Pop was an impressive last start winner and is up to making it two in a row at Muswellbrook this afternoon. The Excelebration gelding took a nice position in running and could hardly have been more impressive late, finishing strongly to win by two lengths. He’ll only improve for that effort and can continue his rise through the grades.
Black Magnum has returned three competitive efforts this time and is up to winning the Skellatar Sprint. The Mark Newnham-trained gelding was a dominant first-up winner on the Kensington course at Randwick, progressing to fourth behind the talented Greyworm at Rosehill and running third in BM90 company at Canberra most recently. He will need luck from the barrier but is more than up to something of this quality.
Ken’s Dream has wound back the clock this time in and the Muswellbrook Gold Cup looks a lovely feature race for him. The Dream Ahead gelding has hit the line with intent at his last three starts, finishing fourth behind the talented Master Of Wine at Rosehill two back before filling the minors in the Listed National Sprint. He’s rock-hard fit and looks a touch of overs at his current price ($7 at publish).
