The Autumn Racing Carnival is heating up in Sydney and we are set for an outstanding day of racing at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
There are two Group 1 races taking place on Royal Randwick Guineas Day and there is plenty of quality horse flesh on display.
We’ve completed the form and our complete 2020 Randwick Guineas Day Tips and Preview can be found below.
This is a very competitive race to start the day at Randwick with plenty of winning chances. I have found it difficult to line up the form however I believe the value lies with Invictus Salute at an each way quote. The four year old mare made the step up to Group 3 company last start and was competitive when running third behind Sylvia’s Mother at Caulfield. He maps to get a lovely run in transit from barrier two and I’m confident Tim Clark with take her to the front and she will be hard to pass.
This is a hot field of two year old colts that includes the Neds Blue Diamond Stakes winner in Tagaloa however this is a very tough race to assess and I’m happy to watch.
Supreme Idea smashed her rivals and the clock when she lead all the way in the Lonhro Plate at this track and distance and I can’t see why she can’t do it again. Tim Clark is the best front running jockey in the country and he can get the I Am Invincible filly to the front again from barrier 3. We are currently getting each way odds!
Pandemic was only narrowly denied last start having his first go in Group company. He made up ground on a day where no horse was able to and there looks to be an enormous amount of pace in this race, which will suit him. He will also appreciate the step back to 1100m in my opinion and the barrier will not be a problem as he will settle back in the field.
I’m finding it tough to get away from Savatiano after a very impressive first-up win in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes. White Moss can be used as a guide as she ran in both the Expressway, which had Standout and Alizee in it, and the Millie Fox. In my opinion Savatiano was more dominant over the grey mare and I think this is the perfect Group 1 race for the consistent galloper. She has drawn well in barrier two and importantly James McDonald retains the ride having won on the mare in her last two starts.
I think Nature Strip will bounce back and be too good for these however I’m not willing to take even money about such an inconsistent horse. There is rain predicted on Saturday which may also suit Redzel.
The 2020 Randwick Guineas has opened wide up with the scratching of Super Seth and I’m still of the opinion that Castelvecchio and Shadow Hero will need another run before we see their best. Conqueror is a big bulky Fastnet Rock colt who showed his power when forcing his way through the field in the Karaka Millions over 1600m at Ellerslie last start. That race was won by Probabeel who came out and won the Surround Stakes last weekend and I think the Hayes trained colt can run a race at nice odds in this.
Shared Ambition has won five of his seven race starts to date and the lightly raced four year old looks hard to beat in this event. He worked his way through the grades well in Melbourne last prep and his first up third at Warwick Farm was full of merit. He gets out to a more suitable trip now and the booking of James McDonald is a positive for the horse in my opinion from barrier eight.
I’m going to have a throw at the stumps here in the last with Missybeel at a big price. My speed map has absolutely no pace in this race aside from Irithea, who is the clear leader. Missybeel can slot in behind that horse from barrier two and hopefully Tim Clark can work his magic and boot us home to finish the day! A great each way bet to finish the day.
