Newcastle: Race 2 (1:50pm AEDT)
No. 9 Thermosphere

Thermosphere has improved for two starts this time and is ready to break her maiden at Newcastle this afternoon. The Exosphere filly just missed a place at Canterbury on debut, before flying home late to finish a head second over 1250m last time out. She is clearly a filly of ability and has her hoof on the till. With even luck, she can go one better today.

Newcastle: Race 7 (4:55pm AEDT)
No. 2 Corncrake

Corncrake is another horse that has stripped fitter for two starts this time and he’ll take beating at Newcastle today. The Matt Smith-trained entire filled the minors at Canterbury when debuting in Australia in late January and was last seen finishing second behind Tochi in BM70 company. There’s something of a query over his ability on a firmer track, but his class will take him a long way.

Pakenham: Race 5 (8pm AEDT)
No. 4 Think We're Due

Think We’re Due ran second in a tougher race at The Valley last time out and will take plenty of beating fourth-up at Pakenham. It is fair to say that he wasn’t a match for the quality Bacchus, but he beat home several quality horses and with even luck, this looks an excellent opportunity for him to return to winning form.

Pakenham: Race 8 (9:30pm AEDT)
No. 1 Golden Gorge

Golden Gorge will take improvement into his fourth career start at can win again at Pakenham tonight. The Robert Hickmott-trained gelding broke his maiden on debut at Bendigo, progressing to a credible sixth placing behind How Womantic at Caulfield before running third in BM64 company at Sandown. This looks a lovely race for him.
