Stratessa is another resuming maiden set to resume at Kyneton today and she should be offered every opportunity to performer after drawing and ideal barrier. The Stratum filly was settled off the pace and ran on well to finish second behind the smart Southbank at Mornington on debut, and there’s little doubt that she’ll enjoy improvement for that experience.
Team Hawkes will travel Teebird to Kyneton this afternoon and it looks the perfect opportunity for the gelding to record a race win. The four-year-old son of Shamardal hasn’t been far away from the winner at any of his four competitive appearances to date and resumed a fortnight ago to finish fourth over 1309m at Geelong. This looks an easier race and he harbours good improvement.
Logan River clearly needed the run when he tailed off to finish ninth at Canterbury, but he’ll take good improvement from that effort into what is an easier race at Wagga this afternoon. The Snitzel gelding was a strong and consistent performer for the stable last time in, returning several excellent performances and capping his campaign with a Country Cup. The $11 on offer at publish looks overs.
Early Morning Rise will take winning form into the last at Kyneton today and can make it two in a row. The Fastnet Rock filly ran on to finish second over 1140m at Geelong when resuming and was rewarded for her ability when a smart winner to break her maiden over 1200m last time out. This is harder, but she looks to have plenty of improvement to come and will take beating.
