2020 TV Week Gold Logie Betting Update

2020 TV Week Gold Logie Betting Update

With the Oscars now in the bag for another year, we thought that it would be the perfect time to check in with the market for Australia’s premiere entertainment award, the Gold Logie.

The 62nd TV Week Logies will be held at The Star Gold Coast on Sunday, June 28th – giving us a little under six months to take advantage of the early value on offer for everyone that has so-far been mentioned in the same breath as the ceremony’s flagship award, the Gold Logie.

It was once held in high regard, but the holes in the Gold Logie’s credibility were made blatantly obvious by comedian Tom Gleeson in 2018, when he successfully led a campaign for former weatherman and gameshow host Grant Denyer to win, before backing that up with another successful campaign in 2019, this time for himself.

For one reason or another, many turned up their noses at Gleeson’s disregard for the ‘sanctity’ of the Gold Logie, but it proved that the award is literally there for the taking and ultimately represents an excellent betting opportunity.

Below we have split several Gold Logie betting options into two categories; those we deem to be legitimate industry chances, and those who look to be a chance of continuing Tom Gleeson’s outstanding work.

Gold Logie Betting – Legitimate Entertainment Industry Chances
Costa Georgiadis ($3.75)

The enigmatic new host of Gardening Australia was the other talking point at last year’s Logies.

Costa Georgiadis has almost single-handedly brought the ABC and gardening out of the stone age and back into the spotlight. His appearance at last year’s ceremony with a beard full of flowers only increased his popularity and he is a fitting favourite to win the 2020 Gold Logie.

Amanda Keller ($6)

Amanda Keller was considered ‘robbed’ by many when she missed out the Gold Logie in 2019 and subsequently, remains prominent in betting to win in 2020.

Regardless of your opinion of the fallout from last year’s result, we think that there’s every chance that she’ll be gifted gold this time around, and the $6 currently on offer could prove big overs.

Carrie Bickmore ($11)

Popular newscasters are always worth consideration in Gold Logie betting and given the shambles that is breakfast television at the moment, there probably isn’t better value than the regular hosts of Channel 10’s The Project.

Carrie Bickmore was a popular winner of the Gold Logie in 2015 and there is currently $11 about to her to win a second in 2020.

Waleed Aly ($13)

Falls into the same basket as fellow host of The Project, Carrie Bickmore.

Waleed Aly is also a former Gold Logie winner, having saluted in 2016. He remains a $13 chance to win in 2020.

Gold Logie Betting – Tom Gleeson-esc Chances
Tom Gleeson ($11)

How amazing would it be to see Tom Gleeson figure in the nominations and defend his crown in 2020?

If he isn’t the victim of some sort of ‘he isn’t a credible option’ smear campaign, he could also prove big overs to win at $11.

Ryan Moloney ($26)

There isn’t a bigger cult hero in Australian television than Toadfish Rebecchi, and he looks to be a serious option for this year’s big Gold Logie winning smokey.

Ryan Moloney, who plays Toadie on the long-running soap Neighbours is yet to win any form of Logie and is clearly well overdue for a gong.

The Fren Family ($26)

Travel Guides is another show that has gained a cult following in its few years of existence and in terms of presenters, none are more popular than the Fren Family.

It’s hard not to be caught up in the fun and humour of the Novacastrians as the tour the world, and they are currently available at $26 to become the first family to win the Gold Logie.

Bluey ($51)

Kid’s animation Bluey has gained enormous popularity not on in Australia, but the world over throughout the last few years and is currently a $51 chance of winning the 2020 Gold Logie.

Fictional characters can win the Gold Logie – Norman Gunston claimed honours famously in 1976.
