The rains are here! We have a very wet Warwick Farm to contend with this Saturday for the 2020 Inglis Race day however we have done our best to find some winners for punters.
We have previewed every race on the card and you can find our betting suggestions below.
Stella Sea Sun has been racing well of late and she rarely puts in a bad effort. She seems to be stuck at this grade of racing but she can again be more than competitive. She handles the wet track well and although she has a big weight to carry, she will be there abouts again.
I think Safe Landing represents plenty of value in the Highway race here. He carried 60kg when finishing fifth last start at Randwick and he was beaten just over two lengths. He ran second to Noble Boy in a class 5 on the heavy surface back in March last year so we know he gets through the heavy going.
Kiamichi has been somewhat disappointing since she won the Group 1 Golden Slipper last Autumn however she has had two trials leading into this first up run. She beat home Deprive in her most recent trial and she will appreciate the step back in grade here. She is unbeaten on the heavy track, including her win in the Slipper, so we know she will handle the track, which I can not say confidently about many others in the race.
This is a very tough ask for the young ones having to deal with a very wet track and with little to no wet form to go on I’ve gone with the Australian Bloodstock first starter at $20+. She won her trial with something in hand at Wyong and the stats suggest these Snitzel fillies handle the wet with aplomb.
It’s impossible to ignore the win of Cellsabeel last start at Rosehill and if you consider the fact that she absolute swam through the slop, and that she will get those conditions again on Saturday, she is the obvious choice in this race. I will not however be stepping into $1.45 in a big field. I suggest a very small place or each way bet on Supreme Idea who was very good at Caulfield last start and should appreciate the step back up to 1100m where she won her maiden on debut by 2.5 lengths.
So You Think has a very good record with wet trackers over his time as a sire and Think It Over seems overs to me in this contest. He has had one go on the heavy track when running fourth behind Itz Lily at Randwick and he is worth a small each way play in a tough race.
Again there is not a lot of form for the majority of these horses on the heavy track however True Detective has twice run second in the wet. He is a horse with a huge amount of upside and he is never far away in his races. He can put the writing on the wall for a nice prep with a win first up in this race and collect some very nice prize money for what must be a frustrated bunch of owners.
Gaulois has been consistent throughout his career and rarely runs a bad race. He has been placed in 20 of his 29 race starts and was beaten only 1.4 lengths behind Cradle Mountain at Listed level last start. He has had five goes on the heavy track for two wins and three thirds so he gets through the slop well. Avdulla and barrier six are benefits to the horse.
God Of Thunder is a horse with a huge amount of upside and he managed to work his way through the grades last prep culminating in a second in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint behind Miss Leonidas. He won a recent barrier trial leading into this first up assignment by 5.3 lengths at Rosehill and this looks the perfect race for him. He has a win and a third from two starts on the heavy track so that should not bother him.
