The Magic Millions 2YO Classic is the most highly anticipated race of the summer and an exciting field of juveniles has been confirmed for the $2 million feature on the Gold Coast.
It is rare to see an edition of this race that isn’t wide open from a betting perspective, so it was less than surprising to be faced with $6 the field following Tuesday afternoon’s Magic Millions Classic barrier draw.
I’ve had a crack and you can find my 2020 Magic Millions 2YO Classic tips below.
Suggested Bets
- 2 Units E/W #2 Farnan
- Boxed Trifecta of the selections below
Farnan is yet to taste anything but success and looms as a live chance of extending is unbeaten record through the Magic Millions Classic, particularly after drawing barrier 5. The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained gelding took up the running at Canberra on debut and never looked in doubt; extending in the straight to score by five lengths, and he made a nice step up in class when an easy winner of the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Guineas last time out. This is harder again, but he harbours further improvement and can go straight to the lead.
Conceited let down late to finish a close-up second at the Gold Coast last week and for mine, he is primed for another big showing in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic. Sure, he’s only had two career starts, but he has already more than stamped himself as a colt to follow; recording a tough win down the straight at Flemington in his only start prior to last week’s efforts. Barrier 17 isn’t great, but he looks to be a back mark and with even luck in the straight, he looks up to replicating the efforts of stable mate Exhilarates in last year’s edition of the race.
Aim is another horse that is yet to suffer defeat and he has opened the $6 favourite in Magic Millions Classic betting, following the confirmation of the final field and barrier draw. The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained colt stamped himself as one to watch with a smart performance to break his maiden on debut at Rosehill but put the writing on the wall with a dominant four-length win over 1200m at Randwick late last month. Any improvement from that effort would see him extremely difficult to beat again.
Gotta Kiss enjoyed a dream run in transit before beating plenty of her Magic Millions Classic rivals at Eagle Farm in late December, but there is absolutely no denying her ability and I can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish again on Saturday. The Steve O’Dea-trained filly is yet to run a bad race; recording two wins and a close-up second and while she will certainly need everything to pan out favourably if she is going to successfully make this step up in class, it very well could from her ideal draw of barrier 4.
