The scratching of star three-year-old Exhilarates has left Diamond Thunder as clearly the horse to beat in this afternoon’s Magic Millions Wyong Stakes. The Dawn Approach gelding hasn’t run a bad race since debuting and resumed for a smart win in the Listed Brian Crowley at Randwick in late October. He’s since been freshened, has trialled well and can win another.
Exceed The Stars is another horse that will resume at Wyong this afternoon, but he has a class edge over these rivals and will take beating. The Star Witness gelding finished second behind Rule The World when resuming in June; breaking his maiden when second-up before finishing down the order in a far tougher contest at Rosehill. He’s trialled well and should be given every opportunity from barrier 5.
Every Rose won the Group 3 Gimcrack on debut in October and looks difficult to beat in the feature race this afternoon. The daughter of Choisir has only had the one career start so far, but her dominance on that occasion stamped her as one to watch and there’s little doubt that she’ll only be better here for that experience. She won a trial in dominant fashion two weeks ago and is ready to go again.
Fairy Me Home has improved for two starts this time and looks ready to win third-up at a price today ($7.50 at publish). The son of Shamexpress clearly needed the run when he tailed off for eighth at Kembla Grange when resuming, but there was a lot to like about the way he hit the line to finish a length third at Gosford last time out. He’s drawn ideally with the bonus of Hugh Bowman engaged to ride.
