The Driller has stamped himself as a horse to follow and is ready to break his maiden at Mornington this afternoon. A son of Sea The Stars, The Driller has returned two eye-catching performances to ultimately finish a close-up second on both occasions. He can slot in behind the early pace today from barrier 8 and finish over the top of his rivals.
Florent has returned to the races in competitive form this time and strikes a very winnable one at Mornington this afternoon. The Tony Noonan-trained filly worked home well to finish second at each of her first two starts when resuming and was last seen racing well to finish sixth in a tougher race at Caulfield. She’ll take further improvement from that effort and is ready to win.
Deploys Alone was a smart first-up winner at The Valley and looks well placed to make it two in a row at Mornington today. The Sepoy gelding was a strong and largely consistent performer for John Sadler last time in, and he will appreciate the small rise in trip into this contest from what was a quality resuming performance.
Saint Katarina has been knocking on the door of a race win for a few starts and probably won’t be offered a better opportunity than she gets at Mornington today. The Snitzel mare seems to have relished a change in scenery since arriving at Jason Warren’s stable and has placed at three of her last four appearances, including a smart second at The Valley last time out. She’s drawn a peach and this is her opportunity to break back into the winner’s stall.
