Mangione has continued to improve with racing since resuming and was a smart winner at Gosford three back; progressing to close-up placings in a pair of Saturday metro races. He looks ready to peak today, has options from the rails draw and the added bonus of Nash Rawiller engaged to ride. This isn’t a particularly strong field and it looks the perfect race for him.
These Vobis races are Widgee Turf’s bread and butter and he looks to be the horse to beat again in today’s Gold Bullion. The Turffontein gelding interestingly hasn’t won since resuming in September, but he has returned several typically strong performances, including a third placing in Group 1 company and a close-up second in Vobis Gold Star. He’s rock-hard fit and at his best, has an edge over these rivals.
Outrageous was luckless when caught wide at his last appearance, but his performance and win prior was nothing short of excellent and he can bounce back into the winner’s stall at Rosehill today. The All Too Hard gelding hit the line well to finish third in his only other start prior to his impressive second-up win and he’ll take further improvement into this contest.
We took Regal Power to win the Railway a fortnight ago and he returned a dominant performance to salute at double-figures, and I am happy to continue riding his outstanding form at another terrific price ($10 at publish). The Pierro gelding has now recorded five wins and four minors from his fifteen career starts and ran second in the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes at his only other appearance this time. William Pike hops off and Damien Oliver jumps on and with even luck, he can finish over the top of his rivals again.
