Hibern will take good improvement into her second campaign start at Kempsey today and is ready to break her maiden. The Wandjina filly placed in each of her first two starts when debuting and resumed this time with a credible performance to finish fourth at Port Macquarie. She’s drawn a peach in barrier 6 and has the added advantage of Andrew Gibbons aboard.
Lucitor hasn’t been seen at the races since July but showed decent ability last time in and looks well placed to break his maiden first-up at Kempsey. The four-year-old son of Lucas Cranach placed in three races in succession last in and ran into a couple of horses who progressed into city races. He’s trialled well and looks ready to go.
This looks to be the most open race of the day at Kempsey and Graceful Star looms as a live chance at a price ($10 at publish). The All American mare settled towards the tail of the field when resuming at Coffs Harbour and let down with a smart turn of foot to finish a close-up fourth. She’ll enjoy improvement from that effort and can settle a little closer today from an inside draw.
Mr Grumpy has improved with each effort this time and can record another win at Kempsey today. The I Am Invincible gelding finished midfield at Scone when resuming and just missed here at Kempsey, before recording an easy win at Port Macquarie last time out. He can go straight to the lead today and will give them something to chase.
