Savaspur has stripped fitter for two competitive efforts this time and is ready to break his maiden at Canterbury this evening. The son of Savabeel stamped himself as a colt to follow when he finished off well for third at Kembla Grange on debut, before producing a similar effort to run half a length third to Earth Song last time out. Third-up, the rise in trip and Hugh Bowman are all positives.
Stardome has returned several pleasing efforts this time and looks well placed to record another win at Canterbury tonight. The Savabeel gelding recorded a smart win at Kembla Grange three back and has excuses when found to have a cardiac arhythmic issue two back, before responded with a close-up second in a tougher race at Rosehill last time out. He’s drawn a peach and will be ridden by James McDonald.
This is shaping as the race of the night at Canterbury, but Mossman Gorge is a classy type and will be extremely difficult to beat second-up. The Matt Dale-trained son of Mossman has been a strong and consistent performer for the stable throughout his career and was just bobbed out of a place when resuming on The Gong Day. He can take a prominent position in running and will give them something to chase.
Reflectivity has returned two fair efforts in tougher races this time and looks ready to do something third-up at a price tonight ($8 at publish). The All Too Hard gelding finished fifth from an on-pace position when resuming at Flemington when running midfield at Rosehill last time out. He gets a relief in the weights with Brock Ryan’s claim and can fight out the finish.
