Daily Racing Tips – Boxing Day Edition

Randwick: Race 1 (1:05pm AEDT)
No. 1 Blondeau

Blondeau stamped himself as a horse to follow on debut and will take good improvement from the experience into his second start at Randwick this afternoon. The I Am Invincible colt mustered an eye-catching turn of foot to finish second behind Aim on debut, and that horse has since produced another classy effort in a Saturday race, and I am happy to follow that form.

No. 6 Magic Over The Bay

Magic Over The Bay will have his first start for Clare Cunningham at Randwick this afternoon and looms as a live each-way chance in what is a wide-open race. The son of Magic Albert has been a strong and consistent performer this time and placed in three country cups before finishing fourth in the Country Classic (2000m) at Rosehill two back. He’s rock-hard fit and looks up to a race of this quality.

Randwick: Race 6 (4:10pm AEDT)
No. 3 Luvaluva

Luvaluva has returned three gallant efforts this time and the Summer Cup looks an ideal race for her. The five-year-old daughter of Mastercraftsman finished second behind the talented Greyworm when resuming in late October and has since finished on the placegetters’ heels in the Group 2 Hot Danish and The Gong. I like that she’s had a trial in the lead-up to this race and there’s no doubt that she’ll relish getting out to the 2000m.

Randwick: Race 8 (5:30pm AEDT)
No. 9 Rover

Rover could hardly have been more impressive on debut and can continue his rise through the grades at Randwick today. The Fastnet Rock gelding showed good ability at the trials prior to his debut and franked that with an enormous performance to score by half a length over some seasoned rivals. He’ll take further improvement into this and will be piloted by Hugh Bowman.
