2019 Hong Kong Mile Tips

It’s typically one of the better contests at the international meet each year and we’re set for another exciting Hong Kong Mile.

He hasn’t returned to the track in the world-beating form that we have become accustomed to, but Beauty Generation leads the 2019 Hong Kong Mile field and looms as the one to beat yet again.

Check out my 2019 Hong Kong Mile tips below.

Hong Kong Mile - Winner
Beauty Generation

There is no doubt that Beauty Generation (formerly Montaigne for Australian racing purists playing at home) has been set for the Hong Kong Mile and I think he’ll be winning. The outstanding son of Road To Rock is a multiple Group 1 champion and has been Hong Kong’s leading horse for several seasons now. He has won the two most-recent editions of this race and while he has been beaten twice this time in, he’s tuned-up nicely by winning the Group 3 Celebration Cup and placing in both the Group 2 Sha Tin Trophy and Group 2 Jockey Club Mile. It’s his race to lose.

Hong Kong Mile - 2nd
Indy Champ

Japanese raiders Indy Champ will take Group 1 winning form into the race and looms as the unknown entity of the market leaders in 2019 Hong Kong Mile betting. The four-year-old son of Stay Gold is another horse that has timed his run of form to absolute perfection for the Hong Kong Mile; running third in the Group 2 Mainchi Ochen when resuming in Tokyo before his comfortable win in the Mile Championship last time out. He’ll only be better third-up and would not look out of place in the winner’s stall again.

Hong Kong Mile - 3rd
Waikuku

Waikuku has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his career in Hong Kong and does loom as the major local threat to Beauty Generation. The John Size-trained gelding resumed with a fair effort for third in the Celebration Cup; placing second in the Sha Tin Trophy before raking out the Jockey Club Mile last time out. Have knocked off the champ a couple of times already, he clearly has the ability. Joao Moreira retains the ride and quite clearly knows his way around the horse, and around Sha Tin.

Hong Kong Mile - 4th
Persian Knight

Several Japanese horses have been confirmed for a start in the Hong Kong Mile and Persian Knight looks another live threat at double-figure odds ($19 at publish). The son of Harbinger has steadily improved through three starts this time and was last seen finishing one and three-quarter lengths third behind Indy Champ in the Mile Championship. A similar effort looks good enough to find him in the finish of this race.
