Tottenham Hotspur has decided to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino after five seasons with the Argentinian.
On the outside, this looks a very harsh decision. Spurs have finished in the top 4 in four consecutive seasons and if it were not for some dominant seasons from Leicester and Manchester City, they may have won their first Premiership title since 1961.
Poch also guided Spurs to the Champions League final last year. I’ll write that again. The Champions League Final.
Alas, he did not deliver a trophy for the success starving Spurs supporters in his five seasons and although this looks on the surface as the reason he was ‘sacked’ it really is impossible to tell.
I hate it when fans and ‘commentators’ get involved in the appointment of managers and captains as if they have any idea of what happens inside a football club.

We see it in the AFL constantly and it becomes so repetitive. The breakdown on why a coach has been sacked or a captain isn’t the right fit is often baseless. It’s pure baloney.
You simply have to trust the club has made the decision with a lot more knowledge than Joe Blow commentator or old mate with his football podcast.
Mauricio Pochettino has done a fantastic job with Spurs and he is clearly a talented manager with a lot of ambitions in world football.
Did he check out? Did he have his sites set on another club? Did he lose the playing group? Was he pissed that the club wouldn’t spend any money on new talent?
Who knows and who cares. The fact is that Spurs are sitting 14th on the table which is 20 points off leaders Liverpool.
Jose Mourinho is the short favourite to take over the job and deliver not only controversy and personality back to White Hart Lane but hopefully some silverware
