i just want sport that looks like sport

What are you doing for the weekend?

Are you getting ready for Code Wars on Friday night?

What about on Saturday, are you ready to strap yourself in for the Throwdown followed by the Sunshine Stouch?

And if you think that’s not in your face enough – on Sunday we’re gearing up for the BIG BLUE.

That’s boxing, the NBL and A-League all giving titles to their contests this weekend.

It’s fair enough that Boxing gives a title to a fight – that’s the sport that pioneered this sort of thing, but as for the rest – give us a rest.

How about the other sporting events this weekend that are missing out?

What is the Melbourne Racing Club doing about the forgotten event of the Spring Carnival – Zipping Classic Day at Sandown?

How does “Line in the Sandown” sound?

Some of the other games in the NBL this weekend could also do with a title.

Sydney Kings v Illawarra Hawks on Sunday – how about we call that the Princes Highway Ho-Down?

Perhaps the Adelaide 36ers v Perth Wildcats on Friday night could be called the Nullarbor Slam-Dunk-A-Thon?

In the A-League, Brisbane Roar hosts Melbourne City at Dolphins Stadium in Redcliffe.

Why not call that the “Redcliffe Rumble”? The perfect lead into the “BIG BLUE!”

Perhaps the bloke in the milk ad was on to something – he just wanted milk that tasted like real milk, well maybe we just want a sport that sounds like normal sport.

The amount of pony-tailed, wiz-fizz consuming, almond-decaff latte consuming marketing bozos who are coming up with these titles for the pure purpose of a hashtag is getting on our goat.

Enough already!

The thoughts Dylan Leach of are not necessarily those of Neds and its parent company, GVC Australia.

TIPS BEFORE TIP-OFF

If you’re looking for a flutter on the NBA today, we’ve got it covered with our Daily NBA Tips for the matches between the Hornets and the Grizzlies and the Timberwolves v Spurs.

We're with you Will!

Shout-out to Will Pucovski who’s pulled out of selection for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan due to mental health reasons.

Let’s hope he gets all the help, love and support he needs.
