Mornington: Race 5 (3:30pm AEDT)
No. 2 Thunderbolt Two

Thunderbolt Two will take good improvement into his second campaign assignment at Mornington today and will be tough to beat. The Brent Stanley-trained gelding returned several pleasing efforts last time in and is perhaps unlucky not to be taking winning form into this race, having hit the line well for second at Donald when resuming.

Mornington: Race 6 (4pm AEDT)
No. 6 Jennibeel

Jennibeel is a proven performer at this track and distance and will be tough to beat at Mornington this afternoon. The daughter of Savabeel dusted off the cobwebs with a fair effort for fifth at Kyneton, before hitting the line well for second over a mile last time out. The increase in trip will suit and she’ll only improve further into this.

Mornington: Race 7 (4:30pm AEDT)
No. 10 Soaring Eagle

Soaring Eagle has continued to improve with racing this time and is ready to win on her home track and Mornington today. The four-year-old came on well again to finish third at Kyneton last time out and she is rock-hard fit for this assignment. She has options in transit from the rails draw and the benefit of a claiming apprentice in the saddle.

Mornington: Race 8 (5pm AEDT)
No. 8 Rakau Whero

Rakau Whero will appreciate a good drop in class at Mornington this afternoon and is over the odds to score ($9.50 at publish). The Redwood gelding was an impressive winner at Bairnsdale three back before running second behind Blandford Lad at Moe but was probably just a little out of his depth at The Valley last time out. He’s drawn a peach today and will take beating.
