Grafton: Race 4 (2:45pm)
No. 1 Winged Poet

The early scratching of leading contender Veganza has left Winged Poet as the horse to beat in the fourth at Grafton today. Winged Poet has been a model of consistency this time and while he doesn’t win out of turn, he hasn’t missed a place at his last five appearances. He’s rock-hard fit and won’t be offered a better opportunity to break back into the winner’s stall.

Grafton: Race 5 (3:20pm)
No. 1 Exclusive

Similarly to Race 4, the early scratching of clear favourite Seentoomany has left this as Exclusive’s to lose. Exclusive has recorded two tough wins from his last three competitive appearances, including one at this track and distance last time out. A repeat of that performance would see him winning again and he is drawn to do so from barrier 7.

Grafton: Race 6 (3:55pm)
No. 3 Editors

Former Godolphin galloper Editors will return from a freshen up at Grafton this afternoon and his best form would see him comfortably beating today’s rivals. Editors returned several pleasing efforts during a busy campaign last time in; recording consecutive wins at Port Macquarie and Gosford most-notably and was last seen racing in a couple of country cups. He’s drawn a peach today and can win again.

Grafton: Race 8 (5:10pm)
No. 2 Crooked Gent

Crooked Gent is a far better galloper than his last couple of performances suggest and I’m eager to have an each-way play on the gelding at a price today ($15 at publish). The son of Toorak Toff is returning from a freshen-up this afternoon and I think that might prove to be the difference in his performance, given he has otherwise been up and racing for a while.
