There are four black type races on the card at Rosehill this Saturday as we start to get closer to the Spring carnival.
The feature race of the day is the Group 2 Run to the Rose for the three year old’s with Exceedance headlining the field.
We have had a look at all nine races on the card and offered our tips below.
Carillon seems well over the odds for this highway race and is my best value bet of the day anywhere in the country. He had four trials leading into his first up effort at Tamworth in open company where he was beaten less than three lengths. The last time he came to Rosehill he won by two lengths and he has the advantage of Kerrin Mcevoy in the saddle for the first time.
Loveisili is going better than his current form suggests. He was only beaten just over two lengths last start at Rosehill when he drew barrier 10 and get was working home nicely. He draws much better for this assignment and I think he is a very good each way bet.
This is a race where none of the horses in the market stand out to me. Irukanji has been met with a lot of support and I can not understand why. Anyway, I think Zidane is going better than his numbers suggest and if he can get some luck in running, he is a blow out chance.
Dabiyr looks like he has a fair amount of talent which was evident when he romped in at The Valley last start and this race does not look any harder.
Mrs Madrid caused a boilover at Rosehill last start and I can’t see why she couldn’t repeat that performance and go close here. She rises slightly in weight however she is at attractive odds yet again.
I was very impressed with the win of Just Thinkin at Warwick Farm last first up and he looks like a horse that will take a lot of benefit from the run. It was only a maiden however he set the tempo on pace and was strong right through the line suggesting he will improve with the step up in trip.
It was hard not to be impressed with Exceedance when he caused an upset (tipped by yours truly) first up in the San Domenico and it’s harder to see Bivouac turning the tables with the extra 100m either. Anything in black figures seems a good bet to me.
It’s simply can’t back Arcadia Queen at her current quote and although this Group 2 event lacks depth I’m happy to be with the enigma that is Tom Melbourne. He will forever be known as the horse that comes second however he actually won first up last prep and his overall fresh record is very good. Back him each way.
Mizzy responded with a quick turn of foot when Tommy Berry asked her when she won first up at Group 3 level at Randwick and I envision a bright future for daughter of Zoustar. She should improve with the extra distance and although this is her toughest assignment for a while, she is up to it in my opinion.
A very tricky way to finish the day however I think November Man can run a race at a nice price. His first up run at Randwick was huge and he has a very good record when second up. He has drawn perfectly in barrier 4 for Glen Boss and although this is a step up in grade, he drops down considerably in weight.
