2019 Makybe Diva Stakes Tips

The Group 1 action continues at HQ on Saturday and to say that I am excited could be the understatement of the season.

The 2019 Makybe Diva Stakes field is rich with previous Group 1 winners, massive Group 1 potential and arguably the country’s best horse currently in work.

There’s a case to be made for nearly every one of the fourteen acceptors, but my 2019 Makybe Diva Stakes tips can be found below.

Suggested Bets

  • 4 Units straight out #13 Mystic Journey
  • 1 Unit E/W #1 Hartnell
  • Boxed Trifecta of the selections below

Makybe Diva Stakes - Winner
No. 13 Mystic Journey

It might look like I’m taking the easy option here, but surely by this point there isn’t anyone that is yet to jump on the Mystic Journey train? Her autumn was enormous and almost drew as much praise as Winx did in her final campaign, which is obviously saying a lot. Facts are, she’s now won seven races in a row and will enjoy big improvement off her first-up effort and win in the PB Lawrence. She’s back to the scene of her two greatest triumphs and I cannot wait to see what she does in the Makybe Diva Stakes.

Makybe Diva Stakes - 2nd
No. 1 Hartnell

The old warhorse is still producing world-class efforts and there is absolutely no reason why we should jump off Hartnell as a first three prospect in the Makybe Diva Stakes, particularly at a $15 quote (at publish). The Authorized gelding has finished third in the PB Lawrence and fourth in the Memsie so-far this time and is another horse that will clearly appreciate getting out to a mile and the natural benefits of being third-up.

Makybe Diva Stakes - 3rd
No. 7 Kings Will Dream

Kings Will Dream’s form at Flemington is outstanding and boy, is he going to improve with a run under his belt as well. The Casamento gelding ran second behind HQ specialist Grunt in this race last year and resumed from a decent lay-off to finish fifth in the Group 1 Winx Stakes at Randwick; form that has since been franked with Samadoubt again winning the Chelmsford last weekend. I personally cannot understand the $19 that is on offer at publish and I think that he can add some real value to this week’s boxed trifecta.

Makybe Diva Stakes - 4th
No. 4 Scales Of Justice

I all but potted his chances of winning the Memsie two weeks ago and was rightfully made to look like an idiot, but there’s no obviously no denying that Scales Of Justice has come back in slick form this time and he is up to fighting out the finish of the Makybe Diva Stakes. The former West Australian has recorded two wins and a close-up second through three starts this time and looks to be at peak fitness for this race. As long as he doesn’t have to do too much work to find a prominent position from gate 9, he’ll be tough to run down.
