Racing comes to us from Headquarters in Melbourne on Saturday with Mystic Journey the headline act in the feature race of the day, the Maykbe Diva Stakes.
The star mare looks to have a mortgage on the Group 1 event over the 1600m however there are plenty of quality horses in the field.
We’ve taken a look an the entire card for those looking to have a flutter. Our tips and preview can be found below.
King of Leogrance is on the quick back up after a nice third at The valley last week behind the in form Kentucky Breeze. I think the horse will be much better suited to the big open spaces at Flemington and the step up in distance seems perfect for him at this stage in his prep.
I’m sticking with the Exhilarates form as I think she is the best three year old filly in the country. Absolute Flirt was certainly not disgraced when she took on the star filly and she had the rest covered last time out at Caulfield.
St Edward’s Crown drew a very wide barrier at The Valley when she took on Exhilarates however she made a good fist of it when chasing her home late. She finished only a length of her and I think she will appreciate the straight course.
Hinchpin record a dominant win against the older horses as a two year old at Gawler before working home really well at Group 3 level and just missing at Morphettville just before his spell. Trialed well leading into this and $20 seems overs.
Vegas Knight stormed home at this track and distance last time out on the heavy track. He is a horse with a brilliant turn of foot and if the race plays out in his favour he can storm over the top at $23.
Tarwin recorded back to back wins at Caulfield last prep and he is a horse with ability. He has drawn to get a nice run in transit and is right in a race of this quality.
Dalasan was very impressive when he beat Scales Of Justice in the Spring Stakes at Morphettville and of course that horse won the Group 1 Memsie last start. He looks a very promising colt and he will have his sights set on a big Spring after the Danehill Stakes.
I have a pretty high opinion of this six year old So You Think mare and she gets every opportunity to return to the winners stall first up in this. Her record fresh is very good and I loved the way she has trialed leading in. A good barrier for jockey Brett Prebble to navigate from is a big plus.
Hartnell gets out to a more suitable distance in this race and he should be ready to peak third up in the Makybe Diva Stakes. His two runs in have been excellent and he is racing very consistently. Can cause an upset if things pan out for him in the run.
Kings Will Dream returns to the track with a very good 5th in the Winx Stakes. He was knocked about in the Randwick straight but he picked himself back up and found the line really well. He has drawn well and the big Flemington straight suits the horse to a tee.
Demerara has won seven of her 14 race starts and is a mare on the rise. Her trial leading into this first up assignment was very good and she will be tough to beat.
I’m going to stick with Mosh Music in the last. They were off and gone around the sharp Valley turn and the five year old mare couldn’t reel them in. I thought she worked right through the line and the run was full of merit going forward. She has a tricky gate to overcome in this contest however I think she is better suited to Flemington.
