NO, YOU'RE A WEIRDO

Tennis players are really branching out and getting even more creative with insults towards umpires with eighth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas crashing out of the US Open against Russian Andrey Rublev overnight, having unleashed a tirade against the chair umpire, who he called a “weirdo.”

Rublev is in some fine form at the moment, having beaten Roger Federer a couple of weeks ago in Cincinnati and his barrage of forehands broke Tsitsipas with a solid 6-4 6-7 (7-5) 7-6 (9-7) 7-5 win.

The Greek, Tsitsipas had a shocker, receiving a time violation in the fourth set and cracked the brasen bits when the ump wouldn’t give him time to change his headband during the fourth set.

The angry Tsitsipas screamed at the umpire ”I don’t know what you have against me,” Tsitsipas said. ”Because you’re French probably and you’re all weirdos! You’re all weirdos!”.

SEVEN MORE FOR Stephen Coniglio

Much to the dismay of the hopes and dreams of Carlton and Hawthorn supporters and much to the delight of Gill and the AFL executive, Stephen Coniglio will be staying at the GWS Giants and will sign a seven-year contract making him a Giant for life.

Speaking to the GWS Giants website, Coniglio said.

“This club has become home for me and in the end the culture and the opportunity are undeniable,”

“I’m just thrilled to be a Giant for life and keen to continue on our path to becoming an even greater club. For me, that’s the biggest driver and something I’ll aspire to do with my next seven-plus years here.

“Clearly I had a lot to weigh up given I was looking to make a long-term commitment. In the end, the opportunity here at the Giants to do something unique with some incredible people was just too great to turn down.”

Much has been said and speculated as to why Nathan Brown left/was sacked by the Newcastle Knights as coach.

The Knights CEO Phil Gardner has come out and has told the NRL website as to why he was dumped.

“It was my intention to have that discussion with Nathan on that Monday in our regular catch-up,” Gardner said.

“He came in and he resigned. And he told me that he’d already told his coaches and some of his players. Nathan thought he was doing me a favour. Once that was done, we had nowhere to go. We couldn’t say let’s defer this for three weeks. We accepted it.

“I was certainly blindsided by it. He did it for all the right reasons, no negativity in that. That’s Nathan. He makes those decisions and follows through on them. We both felt clearly that the players would lift for him and expected to have three good performances. Had we won on Saturday everything would have been fine.”

Gardener also spoke about how the club began a process looking into all the options and some other corporate speak.

Either way, it’s brutal.Â
