Drain The Swamp has only made one appearance at the races so far, but he looks a classy type and can break his maiden in the first at Pakenham this afternoon. The Statue Of Liberty gelding mustered a smart turn of foot to finish a close-up third on debut and with natural improvement, and from the inside draw, he’ll be tough to beat today.
Front Page News hit the line to finish a close-up second last time out and looks beautifully placed to go one better at Pakenham today. The Price & Kent Jnr-trained gelding has improved noticeably for his two starts this time and will only be better third-up this afternoon. Jack Hill can navigate to a forward position in transit and the horse will be tough to run down.
Biscara hasn’t been seen at the races since March, but she has a genuine class edge over today’s rival at Pakenham and can make a winning return. The Rubick filly has returned several pleasing results during her short career, several in black type company, and was last seen winning a 1000m dash at Morphettville. She’s drawn a peach and will take beating.
Something Serious has good second-up form and looks over the odds to salute in the last at Pakenham this afternoon ($7). The Magnus mare finished seventh at Bendigo first-up, but there was a lot to like about the way she hit the line and there’s little doubt that she’ll take sharp improvement into this contest.
