Unimpeded resumed for an impressive on-pace win at Goulburn and will only improve second-up at Nowra this afternoon. The Bjorn Baker-trained mare has shown decent ability during her short racing career, but he clearly returned a far more furnished prospect this time in. She can go forward from the ideal barrier 3 and will give them something to chase.
Ablaze could hardly have been more impressive in his jumps debut and looks ideally placed to make it two in a row at Ballarat this afternoon. The former Kiwi showed potential in a trial at Warrnambool earlier this month and franked the effort with a dominant fifteen-length win at Coleraine last week. This is obviously harder, but he has the runs on the board and can win again.
Tinai has been a strong and consistent performer this time and looks well placed to score fourth-up at Nowra this afternoon. Having returned a smart win in maiden class at Goulburn first-up, the Magic Albert mare has since placed in two tougher races, including a mile race at Gosford last time out. This looks a far better prospect for her and she’ll be tough to beat.
Bit Of A Lad is one of the country’s best jumpers and looms as a live each-way chance of winning the Grand National at Ballarat this afternoon ($10 at publish). He was an impressive winner of the Brierly at the ‘Bool earlier this prep and has finished in the places of the Thackeray and the Crisp Steeplechase at his two most-recent appearances. He’s drawn alongside some smart ones again but does look the genuine value.
