When you miss, you have to cop it but there’s not many more times I was happy to be wrong on a bet than around 9:15pm Saturday when the Wallabies beat the All Blacks.
Now for the small matter of bringing the Bledisloe Cup back to Australia for the first time in almost two decades.
Consider this, in the time it has spent in New Zealand without a stay in Australia it could have been born and be on the verge of finishing high school, if that’s not depressing I don’t know what is.
So to have it on the flight home, the Wallabies just need to beat the defending World Cup champions, who will be fuming over their loss in Perth, in a venue they haven’t won at since flares were a viable option on jeans and anything under 5 bangles per wrist was an unacceptable fashion choice.
Can they do it? Well check out the match preview here to see what we are backing.
Maybe it’s 17 years of losing talking but doesn’t this just feel like the All Blacks are hoodwinking us here?
They haven’t looked all that good in The Rugby Championship barely winning in Argentina before drawing at home with South Africa then the loss in Perth.
Sure this is a very different team than the ones that has won the last two World Cups but would anyone be surprised if they just decided to hit the afterburners and put up 50 on the Wallabies?
As much fun as it would be to see the Wallabies somehow manage to win the Bledisloe Cup and carry it into the World Cup, I just can’t bring myself to back against the All Blacks, they’ve been doing it for too long.
