Djokovic has been in excellent form recently, rightfully reclaiming his #1 ranking. He is now 32-6 in ATP singles matches this season, claiming 2 titles in the process. His Wimbledon campaign has been very impressive so far, only dropping 1 set all tournament.
Despite a somewhat down year for the Goff, he still maintains an impressive ranking of 23. He enters this match in very solid form, taking care of both Medvedev and Verdasco in hard-fought contests. Wimbledon has historically been his worst grand slam surface and this is officially his best finish at the All England club.
Prediction: Goffin +7.5
While Novak has breezed through to this point, Goffin represents a noticeable increase in opponent quality. Both of these men possess relatively similar games, Novak just prepares and executes better. I can see this being a 3 or 4 set win, but believe Goffin has the necessary quality to keep it close.
A consistent fixture on tour over the past decade, Big Sam enters this one with a stellar ranking of 65. He has had quite a strong 2019 to date, now going 17-8 in ATP singles matches. His run at Wimbledon has been impressive so far, especially his round 1 win over Dominic Thiem.
Nadal is still going strong aged 33, entering this tournament as the #2 ranked player. He continues to boast an astonishing singles record, going 36-5 with 2 titles so far. While Wimbledon has never been his preferred surface, only Nick Kyrgios has taken a set from Rafa in this tournament.
Prediction: Under 34.5 Games
While Querrey’s serve will keep him in this, he likely needs to claim a set for this total to go over. The way Nadal is playing right now, I see him coming up with the key breaks and dominating on his serve. Assuming a straight sets Rafa win, I see real value on the under here.
Nishikori is definitely having one of his better recent seasons, moving to #7 in the world in the process. He is now 27-10 in ATP singles matches this season, managing 1 title so far. This Wimbledon run has been especially impressive, dropping only a solitary set en route to the quarters.
At just 1 month away from age 38, Federer continues to sit in the top 3 in the world rankings. His 2019 numbers are impeccable, going 36-4 in ATP singles matches with 3 titles so far. He has continued his historically dominant run on grass, dropping just 1 set all tournament.
Prediction: Federer 3-0 $1.80
Federer has owned Nishikori for his entire career and I don’t see that trend changing here. Kei’s game just isn’t suited to a grass court, while the conditions will suit Roger perfectly. He simply has too much power and skill for Nishikori here and should run away with things late in a straight sets win.
