Press Review will carry winning form into the third at Gosford this afternoon and will only improve fourth-up. The Chris Waller-trained mare has continued to improve with racing this time and followed up a fair first-up effort with a nice run for third over 1350m at Wyong. She was too good for a decent field at this class last time out and the rise in trip today looks ideal.
Snippetspeed has only been in fair form this time, but he relishes racing on a soft track and will appreciate a step back in class at Gosford this afternoon. The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained gelding hit the line to finish less than two lengths fifth over 1900m at Canterbury last time out and is rock-hard fit for today’s assignment.
Lancaster Bomber is another horse that has continued to improve with racing this time and he looks a live each-way chance in the penultimate at Gosford today ($9 at publish). The Richard Litt-trained gelding relished a return to soft-going when he lit the line for second here last time out and with even luck from the wide draw, he can fight out the finish again.
A few key scratchings have taken a bit of the class out of the last at Gosford today, but I am confident that the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Starry can break through for an elusive win, having been freshened for this race. The Exceed And Excel filly has worked home to finish third at each of her first two starts this time and is drawn a peach today in gate 5.
