Champagne Jet has returned three competitive efforts this time and is ready to win fourth-up at Eagle Farm this afternoon. The Toby Edmonds-trained filly has filled the minors at each of her three appearances since resuming and hit the line well to finish second behind Karaja last time out. She gets a 1.5kgs turn around in the weights on that galloper today and has options from the rails draw. The $6 on offer at publish looks a touch of overs.
Putting it simply, River Bird has been airborne this time and she looks beautifully placed to continue her winning run of form through the fourth at Rosehill this afternoon. The Jason Coyle-trained filly has recorded four wins from her last five starts, including three in succession leading into this and she was last seen winning at this class over 1200m here a fortnight ago. She’s yet to win a race at 1350m, but she’s rock-hard fit and looks to have a class edge over all of these rivals.
Top Striker finished down the order in the Listed Ramornie Handicap at Grafton last time out, but this is a noticeable step back in class for the horse and he is over the odds to salute ($18 at publish). The Greg Hickman-trained gelding has returned several pleasing efforts this time and scored a smart win at this track and distance prior to the Ramornie. There’s a couple of decent horses in this race, but it remains an open contest and Top Striker is up to the class.
Greyworm was scratched from his first-up target at Randwick last week and will instead launch his campaign in the last at Rosehill today. The Master Of Design gelding is an above-average racehorse and is yet to finish outside of the places through six career starts; recording three wins and as many minors. He scored a dominant win at The Valley first-up last time and a repeat of that effort would see him winning this.
