Around The Tweets: AFL Round 15

We were back to the full round of nine games and footy served up plenty of material to keep the fans on twitter dot com satisfied.

Score review stuff ups, upset wins, players having a purple patch – it was all there and we’ve yet again come up with the finest compilation of Tweets that footy twitter had to offer.

Hashtag – entertainment.

SUNDAY NIGHT
Fremantle 11- 9 (75) def. by Carlton 11-13 (79) @ Optus Stadium

The undermanned Carlton came back from 29 points down at quarter time to beat Freo by four points in one of the biggest upsets of the season.

Missing Harry McKay, Paddy Cripps and Charlie Curnow going down in the last 12 minutes, no one told Carlton to give it up and Marc Murphy proved to be the hero with his amazing goal with 31 seconds left, putting the Blues in front.

One really should never doubt Carlton winning at Optus.

Every Carlton fan and their dog loved it.

UP AND ABOUT.

Hi, I’m Sam McClure, you may remember me from EVERY SINGLE FOOTY SHOW ON AIR RIGHT NOW.

And at the end of the day, with free postage at the Carlton Shop on the line, the Baggers really delivered.

SUNDAY ARVO

Brisbane Lions (proudly sponsored by Neds) 15-17 (107) def. Melbourne 11-8 (74)

Brisbane managed to keep Melbourne in the game with terrible kicking.

Enter Eric Hipwood.

Like Mario when he’s in the invincible mode in Super Mario Land, Hipwood gave one of the all-time great 15 minute blitzes.

Eric joins an illustrious list of champions.

Eric also kicked his 100th career goal – we liked him before he was cool.

League HQ is glad of the work Eric is doing in the developing state of Queensland.

We’ve reached peak Queensland.

SUNDAY EARLY:
St.Kilda  10-10 (70) def.by Richmond 16-7 (103) @ Marvel

St.Kilda had a crack.
Alan Richardson keeps his job for another week.
Richmond got their season back on track with a much needed 33 point win.

Tiger Maboir Chol was taking the P-1 double 5 with this effort.

The winner of this years rising star award has been leaked.

Sydney Stack is such a gun that the NRA wants to lobby for him.

HOT TAKE – Sydney Stack is good at football.

Be careful, mouthy Richmond fans are back in force.

SATURDAY NIGHT
Collingwood 5-7 (37) def.by North Melbourne 11-15 (81) @ Marvel

North did an absolute number on Collingwood and all North Melbourne fans are saying is give Rhyce a chance.

It was all downhill for Collingwood on Saturday night once this shithouse banner was lifted.

SATURDAY NIGHT:
Port Adelaide 5-11 (41) def.by Western Bulldogs 10-6 (66) @ Adelaide Oval

NEVER EVER BACK PORT ADELAIDE AGAIN.

Beat Geelong one week, go down to the 15th placed Bulldogs the next.

It was also pissing down rain in Adelaide on Saturday night, resulting in Port’s lowest ever crowd at Adelaide Oval. BRING BACK THE TARPS!

Some insightful commentary on the socio-economic status of Port Adelaide supporters.

Amazing foresight from this gentlemen.

Things are going to be A-OK for the Sons of the Scray.

SATURDAY TWILIGHT:
Sydney 14-9 (93) def. Gold Coast Suns 7-9 (51) @ SCG

The Swans got the job done over the Suns and kept their faint finals hopes alive.

It’s hardly a game we’ll remember, but we do present to you a collection of people losing their collective minds over another botched up score review decision.

SATURDAY ARVO:
Hawthorn 9-17 (71) def.by West Coast 11-11 (77) @ MCG

Another MCG thriller involving a last minute goal from the Eagles to snatch the win in a good old fashioned Saturday arvo slog.

DOWN IN FRONT!

Forget Richmond, West Coast are the kings of the MCG.

Hawthorn’s annual “empty seat day at the ‘G” proved a great success.

FRIDAY NIGHT:
Geelong 14-12 (96) def. Adelaide 10-9 (69) @ GMHBA Stadium

Score reviews aside, Twitter was at its finest.

Don’t boo Gazza, boo Tex instead.

Tex Walker – from hero to Carlton Zero.

How quickly they turn.

Everyone in this game was an equal opportunity wanker.

Why can’t Channel 7 be fair and balanced like the FiveAA Adelaide call of the footy?

THURSDAY NIGHT:
Essendon 12-5(77) def. GWS Giants 10-11 (71) @ Marvel Stadium

Ok, here it goes, here’s yet another collection of people losing it over the botched score review system.

Score review anger aside, this effort from Essendon’s social team deserves the BOG from Footy Twitter this weeekend.
