Fast Fever has returned two fair efforts this time and looks ready to do something third-up at Ballarat today. The Maher & Eustace-trained gelding was a smart winner at Murtoa on debut before immediately returning to the paddock, and he has finished fourth in a couple of races at Hamilton and Mornington so far this time. He’ll take further improvement into this and is up to winning.
Dennis scored an impressive win at odds at Pakenham last time out and looks a live each-way chance in the sixth at Ballarat today ($8 at publish). The four-year-old gelding clearly needed the run when he finished close to the tail of the field at Morphettville first-up but beat a few handy gallopers home last time out and will only improve into this.
Dalmatia has only been fair this time, but she’ll relish a big step back in class at Ballarat today and is certainly up to winning in this company. The Leon & Troy Corstens-trained filly ran on well to finish fourth behind Declares War at Flemington two back, before running eighth in another decent race at Caulfield last time out. She has conditions to suit and is ready to salute.
Okotoks failed to fire last time out, but he is a horse with decent ability, and he looks a live chance of winning today at a price ($14 at publish). The Ocean Park gelding beat a couple of decent horses to win at Cranbourne first-up, but never looked in the hunt at Mornington last time. He’s another horse that will enjoy improvement today and he can fight out the finish.
