It’s a celebration of talent, amazing productions, A-list celebrities and one of the most prestigious awards that Australia has to offer.
But we’re not doing a preview for those awards.
This is a betting preview for the Logies.
The TV Week Logie Awards are happening this Sunday night on the Gold Coast and while a fair chunk of Australian TV tends to be full of crappy reality TV these days, there’s still the occasional good thing that’s usually on Streaming, SBS or the ABC and is either not nominated or in the “Most Outstanding” category.
So as you find yourself watching it on Sunday night and thinking “Who on earth are these people” and “Is Toadie really still on Neighbours”, Neds has a number of Logie’s novelty markets to keep things interesting.
And before you ask, unfortunately, we do not have a market for how pissed Karl Stefanovic will get or which person will make an absolute tit of themselves on stage.
Ahh, those were the days…
I’ve got four words for you punters:
LOAD ON THE TOAD.
Believe it or not, despite being on Ramsay Street for the good part of 25 years Ryan Moloney aka: Jarrod “Toadfish” Rebecchi has NEVER BEEN NOMINATED FOR A LOGIE.
This is an outrage.
From the time Lou cut off is trademark Mullett, marrying Dee only to crash into the sea and Dee to go missing, getting together with Steph Scully, marrying Sonya, finding out Dee might still be alive but it turns out to be fake Dee who might actually be Dee and then Sonya dying in his arms, The Toad has dealt with a lot.
If Ray Meagher (Aka: Alf Stewart) from Home and Away can win the bloody gold logie, it’s time for Ryan Maloney aka: Toadie to take the best actor award.
Take Toadie at the $10, and hope that everyone who still watches Neighbours votes and gets him over the line.
The Toad in his prime! Gotta give him a Logie guys! #ToadiesTime #Neighbours @TVWEEKmag

“Who’s Eve Morey?”
She played Sonya – Toadie’s wife on Neighbours for the past decade and her character had cancer for the past year only to die in Toadie’s arms in some absolute tear-jerking television.
Watch the scene yourself and if you don’t find yourself blubbing at the end of it, you’ve clearly got no heart.
It’s bloody sad and there’s a reason she’s the outright favourite to take home best actress.
Have You Been Paying Attention? is the favourite to win but if I’m looking at my online TV Week voting form, I’m thinking Russell Coight.
The people wanted Glenn Robbins alter-ego back on TV after 15 or so years and they got him.
Even if you didn’t see an episode of All Aussie Adventures this series the mere thought of it puts a smile on your face.
Have You Been Paying Attention? is the favourite and Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell probably won’t get it as it’s a bit too ABC, but Coight is good value.
Time to hit the road.

Foxtel series Wentworth is the favourite to win this and so it should be.
It’s freaking awesome.
The characters are great, the cast is great, the storylines are great and the scenes are brutal.
It’s got prison guards burying prisoners alive, psychos all over the prison, girls who swear constantly (including regular Emily Seebohms’) and it makes Orange is the New Black look like Play School.
The program is easily the best drama on Australian TV bar none.
Someone will be shivved if it doesn’t win this award or at least spend a month in the slot.
A TV show about people watching TV shows winning the “Most Popular Entertainment Program” that’s the state of Australian TV right now.
Thing is – Gogglebox is excellent.
Be it old mate Keith who’s nursed the same light beer in his hand since the show started, Wayne and Tom and their dogs, the two Greek ladies, the dad with the girls, the family from Western Sydney who seem to have more kids on the couch with them every single episode, the art critics, the sharehouse boys and the rest of them – everyone seems to like Gogglebox.
One Goggleboxer went in the jungle and another is about to become the Bachelorette later in the year.
This show is where the talent and entertainment is and it should come home with the Logie in this category.
Perhaps Channel 10 will pick up my idea for “Punterbox” where it’s punters watching the Saturday races and getting frustrated when their horse doesn’t get up.
People doubted Gogglebox in the first place…
Thanks for the mems Goggleboxers, friends and fan fam! Until next time 🖐 #GoggleboxAU pic.twitter.com/vhcx7OZ9sY

I watch none of these shows.
I do know that Costa from Gardening Australia has easily the best beard on television and that my Nana loves it.
Hence, Gardening Australia should win this show as it’s an institution and for the beard.
Also, the prospect hitting the Gold Coast with Costa after he won a Logie sounds like a ripping night.
The Project is the $2 favourite to win this, but somehow, unless your name is George from the Vatican, you might be more inclined to vote for Four Corners (although you can’t SMS vote from prison)
Four Corners has been around forever and is actually the longest-running program on Australian TV.
Just about one in every three Royal Commissions called has come from a Four Corners report and I still regard it as the best show Matthew Johns has ever appeared on.
Given the work it did with the banking royal commission and the George Pell story, it was a huge year for the Australian Television icon and also makes for good value.
Also, I’m hoping Four Corners producers read this, think we’re being nice and I don’t have Sarah Ferguson on my front door investigating my crap footy tips in some expose not to be missed.
With the campaign well underway for Tom Gleeson to win the Gold Logie, it might make people forget to vote him for the most popular presenter.
This is where Amanda Keller comes in.
She’s finally been nominated for the Gold Logie but the Gleeson campaign is set to ruin any chances of her winning it.
In saying that, she’s worthy of winning this award.
Amanda Keller has been on TV forever.
Name any show – she’s been on and everyone knows her as a reliable TV talent.
Keller is currently hosting the Living Room but many of you will remember her from the Beyond 2000 days when she introduced Australia to the CD room, the internet and public transport services using GPS trackers.
All this technology which never took off.
Masterchef is favourite to win this but that’s not the most popular reality show – it’s too bloody nice.
Married at First Sight, on the other hand, is absolute trash and car crash television that we all couldn’t get enough of.
Cyrell fighting with Martha, Jess and Ines cheating on their partners, Billy always crying, Mike loving himself, Poor old Mick made to stay so Jess could be with the used car dealer, the boring couple who actually loved eachother…whoever their names were.
This longtime psychological clusterf**k was great for our entertainment and quite frankly worthy of a Logie.
The season finale was the most trashy TV to ever air on Australian TV and we couldn’t get enough of it.
Jess and Dan breaking up live on national television should win the Logie for that alone if you ask me. Unquestionably the best TV moment of the past year.
Let’s go through the nominees for the Gold Logie:
Costa Georgiadis ($23) – the bearded bloke from Gardening Australia, nice guy, but won’t happen.
Eve Morey ($21) – did a great job as Toadies wife, but not going to get Gold.
Rodger Corser ($17) – has played the same character on every single TV show he’s ever been in. A hit with the Nana’s but they still vote the old fashioned way by sending in their TV Week coupon in the mail. Not enough traction.
Sam Mac ($12) – Friendly Sunrise weatherman. Yeah, Nah.
Waleed Aly ($10) – Has won gold before. Very popular amongst people with Facebook profiles with cars on their cover photos and Australian flags on their profile pic.
Amanda Keller ($3.75) – Worthy of a nomination but hasn’t campaigned hard enough.
WINNER:
Tom Gleeson ($1.70)
Tom Gleeson managed to campaign HARD to get Grant Denyer the Gold Logie last year, despite Family Feud getting axed, and now he’s up for gold and on brand, he’s campaigning HARD to get it.
Gleeson is the outright favourite and social media has #Gleeson4Gold trending.
His HARD CHAT segment is very popular and not just on TV, virally as well-meaning plenty of people see it.
It would also be the first Gold Logie won by someone from the ABC since Norman Gunston (A fictional character) won it back in 1976.
Gleeson is now a Logie’s kingmaker and now he’s crowning himself.
He will win and this price is well and truly over the odds.
