The 2019 State of Origin series enters Game 2 on Sunday night and everything is on the line when Queensland and New South Wales square off at Perth’s Optus Stadium.

As anticipated, the Blues drew first blood in Game 1 but were ultimately unable to hold on; completely losing the plot in the second half as the Maroons, spurred on by their parochial home crowd, finished over the top.

This will be the first time that a State of Origin match has taken place in Perth, but the tenth time that a game has been contested on neutral soil. On that front, New South Wales leads Queensland 5-4.

Both teams have made changes, some forced and some on a form-basis and at publish the bookies cannot split them; $1.90 is available for both Queensland and New South Wales in head-to-head betting.

State of Origin tips for Game 2, a preview of each team and overall betting can be found below.

Queensland

Regardless of their seemingly understrength side, Queensland did what they’ve become known for doing in Game 1 and fought for the entire 80 minutes to secure the result and take the upper hand. They will be full of confidence, as well as extremely eager to close out the series in Perth, particularly as Game 3 is slated to take place in Sydney.

Two changes have been made to Kevin Walters’ winning Game 1 side; The immense talent of Jai Arrow, who suffered an ankle injury in the Titans’ loss to the Warriors on Friday night, will be replaced by teammate Jarrod Wallace, while veteran Tim Glasby has earnt a recall to cover the void left by the injured Joe Ofahengaue.

Queensland’s senior players well and truly led the way in Game 1 and if they are to go on and win this game and indeed the series, they will need to play out of their skins again.

New South Wales

New South Wales showed glimpses of good football but ultimately, they were not up to scratch in Game 1 and probably rightfully enter this one off the back of a loss.

Brad Fittler and the Blues’ selectors have swung the axe in a big way and while some omissions and selections appear to be monstrous, we’ll only really know at around 10:30pm on Sunday night. Latrell Mitchell is the big omission, while players like Cody Walker simply were not up to scratch and have been left out of a side that simply needs to win. The experience of James Maloney has been added in an attempt to right the ship.

One thing that was underlined yet again in Game 1 was that Damien Cook and James Tedesco are absolute stars and without them in tow, New South Wales could have conceded a lot more, while also scoring a lot less. They are key to their chances again, but pretty much everyone in this team needs to have a big game to ensure that the series is pushed to a deciding Game 3, which will be played in their own backyard.

Here’s how New South Wales will line up for 2019 State of Origin Game 2

2019 State of Origin Game 2 Betting

Given that prices are locked on the same quote for both teams, there’s value to be taken regardless of which side of the Tweed you find yourself. The selections of these two sides and perhaps the ‘shocks’ that have made their was onto the New South Wales list has seen a lot of early money for Queensland, and there is scope for further movement.

Dane Gagai is beginning to become the Darius Boyd or Greg Inglis of old. No one knows how to find the line in Origin like this bloke and he saluted for us in the Anytime tryscorer market in Game 1, at a nice price. We’ll double down for Game 2.

With everything on the line, I think that New South Wales will silence the haters, at least for a couple of weeks by winning State of Origin Game 2. Queensland simply will not be bolstered by their home fans on neutral soil and while they did show heart to get over the line in Game 1, there was still plenty wrong with what they did.
