Anthem Blues

Blues star Cody Walker has re-iterated his stance on the national anthem and will not sing it during Origin next week. At the All-Star Game back in February, Walker opted to stay silent during the anthem saying it doesn’t represent him or his family. He was one of several players to stay silent during the anthem and is the first in recent memory to opt to stay silent due to his views as opposed to singing ability.

NBL > NCAA?

According to 18 year old basketballer RJ Hampton, the NBL is a better option for his career instead of going to a major college program. That probably has something to do with the fact he’ll get paid in the NBL as opposed to the amateur US program where the players get an “education” and the top coaches earn seven figures. Chances are Hampton’s stay will only be brief, he’s projected as a Top 10 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Tomic Tanks Out

Bernard Tomic has crashed out of the French Open after a disappointing effort against…. Ok that’s where the copy & paste from past tournaments can stop. The moody Aussie was eliminated in 82 minutes by Taylor Fritz winning a grand total of 6 games, on the plus side, it wasn’t the fastest first round match, that honour went to Hugo Dellien and Prajnesh Gunneswaran which went for all of 75 minutes.

Chelsea Bust Up

Stop smiling Unai Emery, tensions are a bit high in the Chelsea camp right now as evidenced by this apparent training ground bust up between David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuain. To be fair though, if I had to deal with the likes of Luiz every day, I’d be pretty pissy as well.

Welcome to the Stanley Cup

If you’re feeling a bit sluggish today, this should wake you up. The Stanley Cup Final got underway yesterday in Boston and while the Bruins won 4-2, Tory Krug provided the highlight of the playoffs with this hit & before you ask… yes it was legal.
